Why do dawns

Unlike May , she knew from the beginning that she wanted to follow in her mother 's footsteps and be a Coordinator. After meeting Ash and Brock , she decided to travel with them, as their experience would likely be helpful to her. When Dawn began her journey she took a bicycle , but like Misty 's and May 's bikes, Ash's Pikachu destroyed it with his Thunderbolt. However, she did not mention this to Ash until more than thirty episodes after it happened, yet only to acknowledge it as an honest accident due to a desperate situation, and didn't hold it against either Ash or Pikachu.

Dawn had also planned to take a large suitcase full of clothing with her, but her mother made her leave it at home due to its impracticality. Instead, Dawn took a backpack her mother had prepared for her. Johanna also gave Dawn the first Ribbon she earned as a Coordinator as a good luck charm, an item that would recur throughout the series as a symbol of Dawn's determination.

Eventually, in Dawn's second official Contest , she was able to narrowly beat her childhood friend Kenny to win her first Ribbon. Zoey was always helpful to Dawn during their meetings and helped inspire her to come up with new combinations.

In Dawn's Early Night! In the Solaceon Contest, which took place in Team Shocker! This marked a notable change in Dawn's character. After the second blow to her self-esteem, she didn't know what to do and was still very upset throughout Tanks for the Memories! After this, she became more focused and regained her confidence after battling Maylene in Crossing the Battle Line!

She also began to practice in earnest for all her Contest's performances and battles. Since this turning point, Dawn has maintained her focus and humility. One of Dawn's combinations in that Contest inspired one of Ash 's notable tactics, the Counter Shield. In A Breed Stampede! Despite this, she was still eager to train it well and finally gained its trust after healing it in Trials and Adulations! However, Mamoswine still rebelled and disobeyed Dawn after it was hit by an attack and lost its temper in the semifinals of the Lilypad Contest in Dressed for Jess Success!

Even though this caused Dawn to lose, she remained calm and optimistic that she and Mamoswine would be victorious the next time. Dawn went on to compete against her mother in a two-on-two Contest Battle. Although Johanna won the match with relative ease, she was impressed by Dawn's teamwork and complimented her. The homecoming helped Dawn to regain her focus, especially after a venture into her own subconscious in Historical Mystery Tour!

Her encounter with Mesprit, like Ash and Brock's encounters with Azelf and Uxie respectively, proved to be fate as Team Galactic intended to capture the lake guardians to awaken Dialga and Palkia at Spear Pillar. The lake guardians communicated telepathically with Ash, Dawn, and Brock, and teleported them to the Team Galactic Headquarters.

In Double-Time Battle Training! Zoey was victorious, and Candice brought over an array of desserts to celebrate. During their meal, Candice introduced the Tamato Berry Ice Cream Sandwich, describing it as "hot and spicy on the inside and cold on the outside", and saying that oftentimes things that don't seem to go well together are actually the most compatible.

The dessert and Candice's words inspired Dawn to create a new combination using Ice - and Fire-type moves. After many failed attempts, she perfected her technique called Flame Ice, which involved Cyndaquil using Flame Wheel while being encased in Mamoswine's Ice Shard attack.

She used this move later in the Daybreak Contest. Even though Dawn temporarily succumbed to her trauma, she was able to overcome her inhibition with Mamoswine's and Cyndaquil's encouragement.

Ultimately, she defeated Ursula, winning her final fifth Ribbon as well as the opportunity to participate in the Sinnoh Grand Festival. She later trained in Teaching the Student Teacher!

Though she originally wanted to see Pachirisu use its Discharge attack while surrounded by Mamoswine's Ice Shard, she eventually decided to cover Pachirisu in a larger bubble of ice from Buneary's Ice Beam.

This gave Pachirisu enough room to run, making Ice Chandelier look its best. Dawn trained with Togekiss in With the Easiest of Grace!

She progressed through the round and battled Ursula first in the next episode. In the following episode , she defeated Jessilina and progressed to the finals.

Dawn would face Zoey in the final round, which fulfilled the promise the two had made with each other after their first Contest to someday meet in the last round of the Grand Festival. It was a very evenly matched and close fight between her Piplup and Togekiss and Zoey's Glameow and Gallade , but in the end, Dawn lost. After the finals, she met with her mother and returned the Ribbon Johanna had given her as a good luck charm at the very start of her journey.

After the competition, Zoey told Dawn that Candice was throwing a victory party for her in Snowpoint City and that Dawn was also welcome; however, Dawn declined the invitation, stating that she still wanted to support Ash in his upcoming battle at Sunyshore Gym and in the Lily of the Valley Conference.

After Buneary's modeling work with Paris was completed, Dawn decided to spend some time at home before considering her next move on her journey to become Top Coordinator.

Dawn and Shinko ran into an Ariados 's web, reminiscent of the first challenge Dawn faced with Piplup. In her upcoming appearance in Pokemon: Master Journeys , Dawn's appearance remains largely the same and her highlights from her navy blue hair becomes darker.

Dawn is carefree, upbeat, and cheerful. Whenever she makes a mistake, she often quickly recovers and strives to do better. She's also confident- even from the beginning of her journey, Dawn is very confident in her abilities sometimes even a little overconfident, as shown when she ordered her newly evolved Ambipom to use Swift , though not to the same extent as Ash. While she's kind and supportive, she is sometimes quick-tempered and often gets emotional when she loses, so Ash and Brock often have to help her cope.

She also became very depressed when she lost two contests in a row, not even managing to get through the first round of appeals. However, she regained her confidence after she won the Wallace Cup, along with a new found sense of maturity. She is also very sensitive and supportive of her friends—a clear example occurred when she worked on a cheerleading recital to help Ash feel better after he fell into depression following his humiliating defeat at the hands of his bitter rival.

The same is shown when she tried to cheer up Maylene when she wasn't having much confidence. Dawn is always good at cheering other people. She also seems to be more fixated on her appearance than the other two main female characters- in one episode, Dawn refused to show herself to Ash and Brock until she straightened out her bed hair. She also knows how to fish and can design clothes very well, but she lets her mother and Brock do the sewing for her.

She eventually grew to be a good battler and a great performer during contests. Dawn cares for her mother very much and looks up to her as a person and coordinator. She sometimes goes to her mother for advice when she needs it. Leona is one of Dawn's childhood friends.

They went to preschool together along with their mutual friend Kenny. Dawn cares for Leona but she doesn't like when she calls her "Dee Dee. Dawn and Ash have an unbreakable friendship. While Dawn gets annoyed with Ash's habits occasionally and they sometimes fight a little, they always make up in the end. Whenever Ash is in a Gym Battle, Dawn would even sometimes dress up in a cheerleading outfit to show her support for him. Dawn and Ash sometimes high five to show their friendship.

Dawn would stand up for Ash and he has done the same for her. Although they parted ways when their journey together had ended, they reminded best friends, shown when they briefly reunited in Unova and Sinnoh. Dawn admires Brock's cooking. While Dawn gets annoyed when Brock gets smitten with girls, she considers him to be a great friend to have around.

Like with Ash, Dawn and Brock each went their separate ways to pursue their goals, but they remained friends. Dawn respects May as a coordinator and a good friend. Also, Dawn and May didn't spend a lot of time together during the Wallace Cup, but they were able to get to know each other a little and get to battle each other. After the Wallace Cup concluded, Dawn and May went their separate ways.

Dawn is very respectful towards Iris, and they are pretty good friends. The two have a mutual respect for the other's skills and abilities. After the tournament they entered concluded, Dawn and Iris went their separate ways. Dawn and Cilan are good friends.

Like with Brock, Dawn also enjoys Cilan's cooking. They went their separate ways, after the tournament they entered had ended. Also, Dawn notices that Chloe was once like her when it comes to panicking about bed head hair. Although they ended up getting into an argument because Dawn wanted to see things around her while Chloe wanted to get to the destination right away, they put aside their difference once danger hit.

However, in the end, Dawn and Chloe make up as they stay friends. Also, Dawn is surprised that Chloe is friends with Ash. Dawn and Kenny have been friends since they were little as they're both from Twinleaf Town.

They even went to the same preschool along with their friend Leona. When they got older, Dawn and Kenny became rivals as coordinators but they maintained their friendship.

Dawn and Nando are good friends and respect each other. However, although they're friends, they also have a rivalry, due to both being coordinators. Also, Dawn never got the chance to battle Nando in a contest but does support him. Dawn and Zoey were able to hit it off right away when they first met. Like with her other friends, Dawn and Zoey have a rivalry, due to both being coordinators, although their rivalry is much more friendly.

Dawn supports Zoey and she gives her important advice to better herself as a coordinator. Dawn first meet Ursula before the Chocovine Contest as she recognized her from the Wallace Cup but she believed that her win was all but luck over skills.

After the contest ended in the latter victory, Dawn and Ursula officially became rivals. Like May with Harley, Dawn gets annoyed with Ursula. Despite this, Dawn and Ursula have some respect for their skills as Coordinator's. Although they disagreed at first, Piplup eventually became Dawn's partner and one of her best friends.

However, although they greatly respect each other, Dawn sometimes gets annoyed with Piplup's stubbornness and his tendency to get her along with their friends lost. This includes some of Ash's best friends and travelling companions, and now Dawn has made her return to the series as well. Dawn has returned to the Pokemon anime as part of a special two part arc that sees Ash and Goh returning to the Sinnoh region to investigate a series of nightmares seemingly kicked in by Darkrai.

At the same time, Chloe has traveled to the Sinnoh region as well and soon she bumps into Dawn and Piplup by chance. Through their heart to heart conversation, Dawn revealed that since travelling through Sinnoh she's been through several other regions and participating in contests along the way.

A very powerful line from Dawn.
